Capital Compactors & Balers were asked by SugaRecycle to propose a new fully automatic baler for cardboard and hessian bag processing at Whitworth Bros in Wellingborough.
Whitworth Bros are a flour miller that manufacture their flours in some of the most technically advanced mills in the world. They are committed to protecting the environment in all aspects of their climate dependant business.
The site required a baler to be housed outside which meant Capital Compactors designed and built a cladded building to house the baler operation and installed a conveyor to speed the process up. The conveyor came with additional sides to enable the site to use a tipping system using their forklift operation.
We installed our APK D 48 baler which processes various recycling materials and ideal for the sites 4tonens per hour requirement using a 22kw motor enabling the baler to process quickly but also allowing 550Kn of power to create highly compacted bales for optimal stacking and transportation. The baler then uses different programs to process material by easily switching from one grade to another. The hessian bags for example allows the baler to push the materials into a bale, whereas the cardboard setting allows for a more cutting action. These programs allow for pressure changes and configuration tolerances to improve bale quality but also increase the balers reliability. The APK balers automatic tying unit guarantees maximum pressing speed together with low energy consumption.
Installation and Service
Our network of in house engineers were on site for two days installing and setting up the baler, conveyor and canopy housing. Training and ongoing maintenance are all provided by Capital Compactors & Balers providing site with round the clock support and back up.
Fields of application
Our channel baling press range of APK’s C – ES machines are suitable for various applications and materials meaning we can offer fully automated applications for most industries and sectors.
